Download and Install Milkyway@Home |
1. Join Milkyway@Home if you do not have an account. Site: https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/ Note: Record your email address, password and weak account key. Note: If you do not have a team, join "Raspberry Pi". 2. Make a backup of your current microSD chip 3. Update system and install Boinc (in a terminal shell) $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get upgrade $ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade $ sudo apt-get install dnsutils whois unzip lsb-release $ sudo apt-get install chkconfig dos2unix $ sudo apt-get install git $ sudo apt-get install cmake $ sudo apt-get install build-essential $ sudo apt-get install boinc $ sudo apt-get clean $ sudo reboot $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get upgrade $ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade $ sudo reboot 4. Download the Milkyway zip file. 5. Upload the zip file to the your Pi server Note: You can access the download page in a Pi browser Note: You will have to locate the downloaded file, for this example, "/home/pi" will be used. 6. Go to a ssh shell 7. Go to the bonic file system $ cd /var/lib/boinc-client/ 8. Copy the file to boinc $ sudo cp /home/pi/milkyway_136_jesse_20160710_tar.zip . $ sudo chown boinc:boinc milkyway_136_jesse_20160710_tar.zip 9. Unzip the file $ sudo unzip milkyway_136_jesse_20160710_tar.zip $ sudo chown boinc:boinc milkyway_136_jesse_20160710.tar 10. Extract the files $ sudo tar -xvf milkyway_136_jesse_20160710.tar $ sudo chown boinc:boinc -R projects Note: This will extract and move the files to the projects folder 11. Attach to the Milkyway project $ boinccmd --project_attach http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/ < your weak key > |
